At the end of a private gated road our three spacious, luxuriously appointed detached self catering cottages offer serenity and seclusion in a beautiful setting within natural woodland and all grass farmland near Ladock in the heart of Cornwall. With stunning, uninterrupted views across surrounding Cornish countryside the cottages and their garden patios are perfectly positioned for watching spectacular sunsets across the valley. Ventonglidder is altogether the perfect environment in which to celebrate that special romantic occasion or just to relax and unwind in a truly idyllic hideaway.

The holiday cottages and their surroundings were originally the farmyard and buildings of what is still a working sheep farm. Our pedigree Wiltshire Horn sheep lamb in March and April. At this time guests can enjoy seeing new born lambs taking their first steps then playing together in the open fields.

Wildlife is in abundance and includes badgers, foxes, squirrels, rabbits, the occasional stoat or weasel; pond life including fish, newts, tadpoles and frogs, water boatmen, snails and other invertebrates and a wealth of birdlife including our resident barn owls and pheasant as well as buzzards, visiting mallard duck, woodpeckers and more. For those who enjoy walking, there are numerous footpaths and bridleways, Ladock woods and a network of pretty, winding Cornish country lanes, lined with a glorious display of wild flowers throughout spring and summer, to explore.

The villages of Ladock and Probus are both within one mile of Ventonglidder and have friendly local pubs with restaurants. Probus offers a further two restaurants, fish and chip shop and a cafe as well as a farm shop, mini supermarket and post office and a fuel station.

Cornwall’s attractive cathedral city of Truro, a six mile drive away, is easily explored on foot. The city boasts a wide variety of places to eat and drink, from traditional pubs to funky new bars and bistros, as well as high street stores and numerous smaller independent shops and boutiques. The Hall For Cornwall theatre in Lemon Quay hosts a full and varied programme throughout the year, whilst Lemon Quay  itself is home to numerous exhibitions and weekly farmers markets. From Truro there are regular boat trips up river past the King Harry Ferry to Trelissick House and gardens and on to the Carrick Roads and Falmouth, the picturesque and historic port, still of major importance to the economy of Cornwall.

Ventonglidder is ideally situated for exploring the picturesque fishing villages and beaches of the south Cornwall coast. A 20 minute drive south takes you to the beautiful Roseland Peninsula and the beaches of Carne and Pendower whilst the picturesque harbour of St Mawes is only 30 minutes away. To the north the often more wild Cornish Atlantic coast and the spectacular surfing beaches of Newquay, Perranporth and Watergate Bay are just as accessible. Other attractions within easy reach include the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and numerous other beautiful gardens of Cornwall.

Our three self catering holiday cottages are tastefully decorated with original oak beams and other traditional features and furnished with your comfort and relaxation in mind. St Clether's and Lower Gew sit either side of a natural pond and stream fed by the overflow from an ancient holy well, whilst Little Hill nestles against the hillside nearby. Each cottage has oil fired central heating, log burning stove, fully equipped kitchen, colour TV, DVD, digital radio c/w IPod dock and prepaid Pay As You Go mobile phone. Children of all ages are welcome at St Clether's, but we regret that no children or babies can be accepted at Lower Gew and Little Hill as these cottages are reserved for adults only. No smoking, pets, fireworks or barbeques are allowed.

The owners, Jean and Eddie Burke, live in Ventonglidder farmhouse and can usually be found working around the farm. However, we like to leave you to arrive and settle in, in your own time and at your own pace. Your self catering holiday cottage will be warm and cosy, a welcome hamper of local Cornish produce, an unlimited supply of logs for the fire and bottle of wine awaiting your arrival. Just let yourselves in then relax and enjoy.

Our spacious and luxuriously appointed detached holiday cottages offer peaceful seclusion with stunning, uninterrupted views, perfectly positioned for watching magnificent sunsets across the valley - the perfect place to relax and unwind at any time of the year.
